2. “Do you have to disassemble a pool table to move it?”
- Many people assume a few strong friends can lift and transport a table in one piece. Please understand that slate tables must be taken apart to prevent severe frame warping or cracked slate.
3. “How long does a pool table move, repair, or refelt take?”
- Moving a table can take a whole day to disassemble, move and reassemble. Repairs can take one day, or several days depending on what needs done. The refelt process usually takes 4-6 hours from start to finish.
4. “How do I know if my bumper cushions are dead and need replacing?”
- Check to see if you notice balls making a dull “thud” or bouncing sluggishly off the rails. If the rubber on the bumpers is more than 7-10 years old, or the table has lots of use, they probably need replaced.
5. “Do I need to replace the felt when moving my pool table?”
- Pool Table Masters cannot guarantee the old cloth can be re-used. During previous installs, the cloth is stretched, and trying to match that exactly is extremely tough. Also, removing the old cloth, it can get ripped during the disassemble, so please budget accordingly for new felt when moving a table.
6. “What is the difference between standard felt and worsted (speed) cloth?”
- When choosing new felt, don’t be surprised by the price difference between standard wool-blend cloth and high-end worsted brands (like Simonis or Championship) please contact us for price differences.
7. “How do you re-level a pool table, and why is my table rolling off-center?”
- Flooring settles, house foundations shift, or improper installation causes balls to drift. NEVER move 3 piece slate by the sides of the table, or just pushing it, the seams can break and cause all kinds of leveling issues.
8. “Can a cracked or chipped slate be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?”
- Slate is expensive. A crack can be fixed with beeswax, slate putty, or resin can fix it without buying new slate (to a extent) any questions, please ask.
9. “Are your services insured and guaranteed?”
- Property damage is a big concern when moving 800+ lb slate tables through narrow hallways or down staircases. Pool Table Masters is fully insured up to 1 million dollars.
10. “Do you service antique, custom, or coin-operated pool tables?”
- Non-standard tables (like antique Brunswick tables, 12-foot snooker tables, commercial coin-op tables or bumper pool tables) require specialized mechanics, parts, and handling and Pool Table Masters has got you covered.
